Gum is an impact crater on the extreme southeastern edge of the lunar fore , on the eastern edge of Mare Australe , northeast of Hamilton crater and northwest of Jenner . The crater is largely flooded by the lavas of the Mare , so that only a remnant of the crater rim is visible.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1970 after the Australian astronomer Colin Stanley Gum .
