Gun Blaze West ( Japanese ガ ン ブ レ イ ズ ウ エ ス ト ) is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Nobuhiro Watsuki , which belongs to the Shōnen genre. It was published in 2001, has over 550 pages and has been translated into several languages.

The story takes place in the Wild West . Ten year old Viu Bannes dreams of becoming a gunman . When he met the run-down gunslinger Marcus Homer one day, he told him about Gun Blaze West , a Mecca of all Gunmen , where only the fittest survive and whose exact location is unknown. Viu decides to find Gun Blaze West and so prove his strength. After four years of hard training, he sets out on the journey.

Viu soon meets 16-year-old Will Johnston, who also dreams of discovering Gun Blaze West , and who joins him. Later, the nineteen-year-old Japanese woman Colice Sato joins the small group and they meet at a traveling circus. Together, Viu, Will and Colice soon learn more about Gun Blaze West, and meet other people who are also looking for the place, including some extremely dangerous outlaws.

Publications

The manga appeared from June to November 2001 in the Japanese manga magazine Shūkan Shōnen Jump and was discontinued after only 28 chapters, making the series an open ending. These 28 chapters were then published in three edited volumes by the Shueisha publishing house .
