Gunar Ortlepp
Gunar Ortlepp (born April 20, 1929 in Waltershausen ; † February 18, 2011 in Hamburg ) was a German journalist, translator and author.
Life
Ortlepp worked as a culture editor at Spiegel . In this function he was better known to the writer Arno Schmidt . The recordings of the conversations that Ortlepp had with Alice and Arno Schmidt in April and August 1970 (the occasion for these conversations was Zettel's dream ) were published in 2007. According to Uwe Pralle, these recordings show “the profile of one's world in a way that one could not wish for”.
Ortlepp he had a special interest in world travel and undertook various long-distance trips himself. In 1980 he toured Africa, 1985 the South Seas and 1992 Latin America.
He also translated novels by Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett .
