Gunnar Leche (born May 12, 1891 in Stockholm ; † March 7, 1954 in Uppsala ) was a Swedish architect and city ​​planner . He was the city architect in Uppsala from 1920 to 1954.

biography

Leche was the son of the Swedish zoologist Wilhelm Leche (1850-1927) and the brother of the Swedish writer Mia Leche Löfgren . As an architect and town planner, as well as a long-time urban architect, Leche was responsible for a large number of buildings during his time in Uppsala, especially in its districts from 1947 to 1950 in Tunabackar and from 1949 to 1952 in Sala backe . Furthermore, he also planned many buildings in Luthagen , Kungsängen , Fjärdingen , Höganäs or Kvarngärdet and Fålhagen and the underground needs institution and at the same time the current London Gallery in Uppsala. Under his direction as urban architect in Uppsala, a whole series of new residential buildings were built in the social housing sector.

His most famous buildings included the Vaksalaskolan (Vaksala School) built in 1925 and the Uppsala Stadsteater built in 1948 .
