Gunter Kaufmann

Gunter Kaufmann (born May 14, 1944 in Rastatt ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Rastatt, Kaufmann studied economics at the universities of Karlsruhe and Mannheim until 1969 . He then worked as a research assistant and as a teacher in the vocational school system. Since 1991 he has taught at the State Seminar for School Education in Karlsruhe, most recently as a professor. Kaufmann is married and has one child.

In 1970 Gunter Kaufmann joined the SPD. Just one year later he was elected to the Rastatt municipal council. Since 1989 he has been chairman of the SPD parliamentary group there. Since 1979 he has been a member of the association assembly of the Middle Upper Rhine region . 1989–2002 he was also a member of the Rastatt district council . In 2001, Kaufmann was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . He represented constituency 32 (Rastatt) there until 2011 .

Honor

In January 2019 he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Rastatt.
