The Gustav-Schwab-Museum is a literature museum for the Württemberg writer Gustav Schwab and is located in Gomaringen in the local castle .

Schwab served as pastor in Gomaringen from 1837 to 1841. The Gomaringer Castle, which was used as a rectory until 1993, served as his residence and official residence . It was here that many of Schwab's poems were written, and it is here that he wrote his biography about Friedrich Schiller and his famous sagas of classical antiquity (1838–1840). He received visits from literary friends, such as Ludwig Uhland and Justinus Kerner , and Nikolaus Lenau praised the spaetzle and marveled at the host's Swabian dialect .

Gomaringer Castle (2007)

The castle has been owned by the municipality since 1994 and was extensively renovated in the following years. In 1998 it was opened by the Gomaringer History and Antiquity Association as a cultural center, which in addition to the Gustav Schwab Museum also houses the adult education center and a music school. In two rooms on the upper floor, Schwab's former apartment, pictures, documents and first editions are shown that remind of his stay in Gomaring. Schwab's research into regional studies on the Swabian Alb is particularly appreciated . The exhibition was created in close collaboration with the Laboratory for Literary Museums based in Marbach am Neckar .
