Gustav Östling
Gustav Östling ( Gustav Gottfrid Östling; born December 17, 1914 in Hedesunda , Gävle , † July 9, 1989 in Gävle) was a Swedish marathon runner .
In 1947 he became Swedish champion.
The following year he won the national elimination race for the 1948 Olympic Games in London in 2:36:23 h , in which he came in seventh place in 2:38:41 h. At the Swedish Championships he was second in 2:33:42 h behind Gösta Leandersson , who had not participated in the Olympic Games.
In 1949 he was second in the Swedish Championships in 2:45:23 h and third in the international match between the United States and Scandinavia in 2:42:34 h (Leandersson won both races).
At the European Athletics Championships in Brussels in 1950 he was tenth in 2:41:18 h.
In 1952 he qualified as third in the Swedish championships behind Gustaf Jansson and Henry Norrström in 2:35:32 h for the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, where he was twelfth with his personal best of 2:32:49 h.
In 1946 and 1948 he was the Swedish champion in the 25 km road race .
