The Resolution 673 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council at its 2949th meeting, on 24 October 1990 voted unanimously. After reiterating resolution 672 (1990), the Council deplores Israel's refusal to receive the Secretary-General's mission to the region.
Mission members authorized to visit the Temple Mount region under Resolution 672 (1990) were prevented from visiting the area after Israel said it was interfering in its internal affairs. Secretary General Javier Pérez de Cuéllar later decided to publish his report without sending the mission, which was reviewed in resolution 681 .
The council appealed to Israel to reconsider its decision and to allow the mission to visit the area where the unrest on the Temple Mount resulted in death and property damage.
Resolution 673 was presented at the heated debate in Colombia , Cuba , Malaysia and Yemen in which Sudan , backed by several non-aligned countries , called for strong action against Israel, including in Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter . Israel refused, arguing with resolution 272 (1967), and the situation of the Palestinians was not comparable to that of the Iraq invasion of Kuwait .
