The Resolution 651 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council at its 2916th meeting on 29. March 1990 unanimously decided. After the Council had recalled resolutions 598 ( 1987 ), 619 ( 1988 ), 631 ( 1989 ) and 642 (1989) and examined a report by Secretary-General Javier Pérez de Cuéllar on the United Nations Military Observer Group for Iraq and Iran , decided he:

  • calling on both Iran and Iraq to implement resolution 598;
  • extend the mandate of the United Nations Military Observer Group for Iraq and Iran for a further six months to September 30, 1990;
  • To request the Secretary-General to report on the situation and the measures taken to implement resolution 598 at the end of this period.
