The Resolution 667 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council voted unanimously on 16 September 1990th Recalling Resolutions 660 (1990), 661 (1990), 664 (1990), 665 (1990) and 666 (1990), the Council expressed outrage and condemned Iraq's "aggressive acts" against diplomatic missions and staff in occupied Kuwait , including the kidnapping of some in violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic and Consular Relations .

Iraqi soldiers joined the diplomatic missions of some European and Arab nations, kidnapped several employees and evicted others. In accordance with Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, the Council called for the immediate release of foreigners and of all nationals named in Resolution 664 and reminded them of their international obligations under the Vienna Conventions . He also requested Iraq to protect the security and well-being of diplomatic and consular staff and premises in Kuwait and not to take any action that would impede their diplomatic functions, including their nationals' access to the premises.

Finally, the resolution called on all member states to strictly comply with all resolutions against Iraq and to take further action against the country because it contradicts Security Council resolutions and international law.

The passage of Resolution 667 has led the world to support military force to counter the actions of Saddam Hussein . Iraq's Deputy Representative to the United Nations , Sabah Talat Kadrat , condemned the resolution, stating that the Council had acted swiftly against his country but had taken no action on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict .
