The Resolution 659 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council at its 2931st meeting on 31 July 1990 unanimously decided.

Recalling previous resolutions on the matter and considering the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL ) endorsed by resolution 426 ( 1978 ), the Council decided to extend the mandate of UNIFIL for a further six months to to be extended to January 31, 1991.

The Council then reaffirmed the mandate of the Force and requested the Secretary-General to report on progress made in implementing Resolutions 425 (1978) and 426 (1978).
