The Resolution 669 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that the United Nations Security Council at its 2942nd meeting on 24 September 1990 unanimously decided. Recalling Resolution 661 (1990) and Article 50 of Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, the Council was aware of the increasing number of Article 50 requests for assistance on international sanctions against Iraq following its invasion of Kuwait .

Article 50 states that a country facing economic problems as a result of the measures has the right to consult the Council in order to find a solution to the problem if the Security Council sanctions any state, be it a member of the United Nations or not, imposed. Twenty-one states, including Jordan , which had been struggling with the negative consequences of the sanctions, applied in this way.

In this regard, the Council requested the Security Council Committee established by resolution 661 (1990) to consider requests for assistance under Article 50. He reported back by calling on member states to support other states affected by the sanctions against Iraq.
