Stefan Babinsky comes from Seckau and starts for the ski club from the neighboring community of Gaal . He started skiing at the age of two and a half and started his racing career at the age of five. After winning the Styrian children's championships in 2006, he was able to win several student championship titles at both state and federal level. He attended the Abbey High School in Seckau and the Saalfelden Ski School . He has two sisters.
Babinsky competed in his first FIS races at the age of 15 and took part in the Australia New Zealand Cup for the first time a few months later . In January 2015 he made his debut in the European Cup after a protracted cartilage injury , but was initially unable to classify himself in the points. In the following winter he managed a significant increase and qualified with the European Cup ranks four and five in the downhill runs in the Sarntal for the Junior World Championship in Sochi . There he won the silver medal in the downhill and finished sixth in the Super-G . At the Austrian championships at the end of the season he won the bronze medal. At his second Junior World Championship in Åre , he could not build on his results from the previous year and finished 16 and 22 in Downhill and Super-G. In December 2018, he won his first European Cup race with the Super-G from Zauchensee and was third in the discipline classification at the end of the season.
On December 1, 2019, Babinsky made his World Cup debut on the Lake Louise Downhill. He won his first points a month and a half later, finishing 20th in the Super-G in Val Gardena . Also in the combination of Wengen he was able to classify himself with rank 23 in the points.
