Gosta Leandersson

Gösta Leandersson (born April 22, 1918 , † 1995 ) was a Swedish marathon runner .

In 1945 he was Swedish champion in 2:31:18 h on a 40 km long course. In 1946 he was fifth in 2:27:05 h and second in the Košice marathon in 2:37:01 h at the European Athletics Championships in Oslo on a 2 km short course .

In 1948 he was again Swedish champion in 2:31:12 h and won in Košice in 2:34:47 h. The following year he won the Boston Marathon in 2:31:51 h (too short a distance), the Swedish Championships in 2:40:38 h and the international match between the United States and Scandinavia in 2:37:25 h. At the Nordic Championships he was second in 2:33:55 h.

In 1950 he was Swedish champion for the fourth time in 2:38:34 h, came fourth at the European Championships in Brussels in 2:34:26 h and won again in Košice in 2:31:21 h.

In 1952 he set his personal best in a marathon in Turku with 2:28:12 h. At the Boston Marathon in 1953 he was third in 2:19:36 h (too short distance).

In 1945 and 1949 he was the Swedish champion in the 25 km road race .
