Gustav Bertog

Gustav Bertog (born September 24, 1825 in Halberstadt ; † June 18, 1888 ) was a German estate and factory owner and parliamentarian.

Life

Gustav Bertog studied law at the University of Halle . In 1845 he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Halle . E participated in the acts of the German Revolution of 1848/1849 and therefore had to serve several years of imprisonment . He then settled in Halberstadt as a merchant, factory owner and landowner.

He married Amalie Friederike Emilie Gehrmann on November 24, 1853 (born November 18, 1831 in Erxleben; † August 29, 1899), daughter of the Royal. Debt collector Ludwig Samuel Gehrmann in Erxleben.

Bertog had been a city councilor in Halberstadt since 1859. For many years he was head of the city council. From 1870 to 1879 he sat for three legislative periods for the constituency Magdeburg 8 (Oschersleben, Halberstadt, Wernigerode) in the Prussian House of Representatives . He belonged to the faction of the National Liberal Party .
