Gustav Fehrenbach
Gustav Fehrenbach (born February 17, 1925 in Lörrach ; † May 6, 2001 in Kronberg im Taunus ) was a German trade unionist and deputy chairman of the DGB
Career
In 1939 Fehrenbach began an apprenticeship at the post office. From 1942 he had to do military service. In 1945, after being released from American captivity , he returned to the post office.
In 1945 he became a member of the newly founded German Postal Union . In 1946 he became chairman of the works council of a post office. In 1948 he was promoted to the middle and in 1955 to the higher postal service. Since 1953 he was a member of the CSU and since 1966 a member of the CDU . He did not spare his own party when he saw the interests of the employees at risk. Whether in civil service policy, education policy or the dispute over strike paragraph 116 , Gustl Fehrenbach did not mince words . From 1971 Fehrenbach was the deputy chairman of the German Postal Union . In 1982 he was elected deputy chairman of the DGB. He stayed that way until 1990.
