Gustav Helland

Gustav Helland (born December 29, 1879 in Telemark , † September 29, 1958 in Stavanger ) was a Norwegian architect .

Life

He received his training at the Technikum in Strelitz and at the Technical University in Dresden . He worked in Germany for 12 years before returning to Stavanger in Norway when the First World War broke out . He designed numerous public and private buildings. In the 1930s he was one of the supporters of functionalist architecture.

  • 1938–1941, town hall and cinema building in Sandnes
  • 1961, Lysekapell (after drawings by Gustav Helland and Endre Årreberg) in Lysebotn on the Lysefjord
