Gustav Kolbe

Heinrich Gustav Kolbe (born March 18, 1809 in Berlin ; † May 27, 1867 there ) was a German administrative lawyer and director of the Royal Porcelain Manufactory .

Life

After attending the Schulpforta state school , Gustav Kolbe studied at the universities of Bonn and Berlin . In 1829 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Bonn . After completing his studies, he entered the Prussian civil service with the government in Frankfurt an der Oder . 1838 he Regierungsassessor and 1844. Government . In 1843 he worked as an unskilled worker in the Prussian Ministry of Finance in the department for trade and commerce for the Royal Porcelain Manufactory (KPM) and the Royal Health Crockery Manufactory (KGM). In 1848 he was appointed director of the loan office in Frankfurt an der Oder. In 1849 he became a member of the main administration of the loan funds and government representative at the Berlin loan fund. In August 1850 he was appointed full director of the KPM by Friedrich Wilhelm IV .

At the World Exhibition in Paris in 1855 , KPM was able to win the Grande médaille d'honneur and at the World Exhibition in London in 1862 the medal of the World Exhibition and was thus on the level of other renowned manufacturers such as Sèvres and Minton . Under Kolbe, KPM followed the molding of Raerener Renaissance ceramics and Westerwald stoneware jugs.

Kolbe wrote the history of KPM in 1863.
