Gustav Reinwald

Gustav Johann Michael Reinwald (born March 16, 1837 in Heckenmühle near Diebach, † September 30, 1898 in Lindau (Lake Constance) ) was a German Lutheran clergyman .

Reinwald studied theology, history and philosophy at the University of Erlangen . There he joined the Erlangen Wingolf in 1859 . In 1864 he came to Lindau as vicar and was later city pastor there. During the renovation of the town hall, he campaigned for the town library and a town archive to be accommodated in the building, thus laying the foundation for scientific research into Lindau's town history.

He was also a co-founder and vice-president of the Lake Constance History Association , which made him an honorary member in 1893. In 1889 he founded the Lindau Museum Association , which he took over as chairman.

On the occasion of his 25 years of service in Lindau, he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Lindau (Lake Constance) on January 28, 1891 .
