Gustav Stollberg (politician, 1898)

Gustav Stollberg (born January 9, 1898 in Burg (near Magdeburg) , † October 4, 1978 in Salzgitter ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

After attending secondary school, Gustav Stollberg completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter from 1912 to 1915. In 1912 he joined the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association, he became a member of the SPD in 1916. He passed his master craftsman's examination as a carpenter in 1929. He participated as a soldier in World War I and World War II . During the Nazi era , he was taken into custody in 1933, put into protective custody and a concentration camp .

After the end of the war, he became involved in rebuilding the union and the SPD. He joined the Reichsbund and was honored there with the certificate of honor of the federal board and the golden badge of honor, and he was also an honorary master of the craft. He was involved in various organizations and committees in sport, crafts and the SPD. He was a member of the supervisory board of a consumer cooperative for many years.

From 1946 he was elected to the city council of Salzgitter , where he became mayor in 1956. From May 20, 1963 to June 5, 1967 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (5th electoral period). In 1969, Stollberg was made an honorary citizen of the city of Salzgitter.
