Gustav Tschirn

Gustav Tschirn (* 9 July 1865 in Pieszyce , province of Silesia ; † 25. May 1931 in Leipzig ) was a German official of the free-thinking and free-spirited movement in Germany.

The son of a weaving mill owner and former theology student was elected chairman of the Federation of Free Religious Congregations in Germany (BFGD) in 1891, which he headed for 30 years. In 1901 he also became president of the German Freethinkers Association . In the 1920s he succeeded in merging the two organizations to form the People's Association for Freedom of the Mind .
