Gustave Doyen
Gustave Léon Doyen (born December 29, 1837 in Festieux , † March 6, 1923 in Fontainebleau ) was a French genre and portrait painter.
After attending the Pontifical English College in Douai , Gustave Doyen became a student of André Reverchon and William Adolphe Bouguereau . He became Bouguereau's assistant. They painted and signed some pictures together. Doyen mainly created pictures of children. He married a midwife named Marie Reine Rousseau on March 14, 1885. From November 1894 until his death he directed the painting school in Fontainebleau.
