Gustavo Marquez

Gustavo Adolfo Márquez Castro (* 1990 in Venezuela ; † 14 May 2018 there ) was a Venezuelan bass player. He was best known as the bass player in the band C4 Trio , but also worked with other Venezuelan artists.

Life

Gustavo Márquez began his musical career as a drummer. Later he switched to the bass. He quickly made a name for himself in the Venezuelan jazz scene and played in the Simón Bolívar Big Band at the age of 17 and joined Rafael "Pollo" Brito's backing band at 19 .

Other stations in his career were working with artists and bands such as Leo Blanco, Desorden Público , Yordano, Federico Ruiz , Eddy Marcano, Hernán Gamboa, Ivan García , Orquesta Sinfónica Venezuela, Orquesta Teresa Carreño , Orquesta de Música Venezolana Simón Bolivar, Banda Sinfónica Simón Bolívar, Orquesta Latino Caribeña Simón Bolívar, Orquesta Nacional de Flautas, Gerry Weil and Andrés Briceño. He was also involved in the musicals VIVO and Chicago .

In 2014 he became a member of the jazz band C4 Trio and replaced Rodner Padilla there. With the C4 Trio he recorded the album Pa 'Fuera , which was nominated at the Latin Grammy Awards 2017 in the category " Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album" .

He was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and passed away on May 14, 2018, at the age of only 28, after months of battling the disease.
