Federico Ruiz

Federico Ruiz (* 1948 in Caracas ) is a Venezuelan composer .

Life

Ruiz studied until 1974 at the Escuela Superior de Música José Ángel Lamas with Primo Casale , Vicente Emilio Sojo and Evencio Castellanos and then 20th century composition technology with Yannis Ioannidis , electroacoustic music with Eduardo Kusnir and choir and orchestral direction with Silvia Eisenstein and Gonzalo Castellanos Yumar .

In his compositions Ruiz combines elements of folklore from Venezuela and the Caribbean with the European composition technique of the 20th century. In addition to symphonic and electroacoustic works, he composed chamber music , choral works and songs , film and drama music and the opera Los Martirios de Colón .

Ruiz also worked as a film composer. For example, he created the score for the Mexican film Canto a las Américas from 1942.
