Patrick De Napoli (born November 17, 1975 in Zug ) is a Swiss football player with Italian roots.
Athletic career
Patrick De Napoli comes from the youth department of FC Baar . His sporting career in the professional field is mainly shaped by the frequent change of club in Switzerland and Germany.
In 1992 the striker started his career at Grasshopper Club Zurich . He then moved to FC Winterthur for one season . From 1996 to 1998 De Napoli played quite successfully for FC Aarau , which is why Grasshoppers Zürich signed him again until 1999. In 2000, Joachim Löw brought him to the 2nd Bundesliga for Karlsruher SC , which was in a relegation battle, for half a year . At KSC he scored a goal in twelve missions, but his relegation to the regional league could not be prevented.
After his brief stint in Germany, he was again under contract with clubs from Switzerland until 2006 at FC Aarau and Young Boys Bern . In September 2005 he moved to FC Luzern where he made it to the Swiss Super League .
In 2006 he moved back to the 2nd Bundesliga for FC Carl Zeiss Jena (13 games, one goal). With the Thuringians De Napoli could not establish himself as a regular player and was therefore loaned to Chemnitzer FC until the end of the 2006/07 season, but returned to the second team of the Jenaer for the 2007/08 season. In August 2007, his contract with FC Carl Zeiss Jena was finally terminated. De Napoli then moved to FC Zug 94 in the current 2007/2008 season .
De Napoli made four caps for Switzerland between 1997 and 1999 . In the encounters against Russia (February 10, 1997 - 1: 2), Hungary (August 20, 1997 - 1: 1), Yugoslavia (June 6, 1998 - 1: 1) and Belarus (March 27, 1999 - 1: 0 ) he was substituted on and remained without a goal.
