Gut Göverding

Good Göverding is a farm in Altenberge , Steinfurt in the Münsterland in the north of the state North Rhine-Westphalia , located in the peasantry West field on which stayed nobles in the 18th and 19th centuries. The farmhouse was built in the 15th century. The courtyard was once surrounded by water, which today is only partially available in the form of swamps and three smaller ponds.

history

The historic farmhouse was built in the 15th century. After the work was completed, this was the seat of the Göverding family. The house and property were surrounded by water and only accessible via a wall .

In 1649 Wilhelm Droste zu Göverding sold the Göverding estate in the Altenberge parish to Henrich Pottgießer, a garment tailor in Münster, as mandate of the cavalry master Adrian vonhaben and his wife Geise for 4,800 Reichstaler . To be on the safe side, the seller put his Wesseling inheritance in the parish of Darup, the Hastehausen peasantry, as well as an obligation from Westerholt to Lembeck of 1500 Reichstalers.

Between 1807 and 1826 Haus Göverding and lands were leased , while widow Bucholtz paid Bernard Multhof zu Altenberge the down payment belonging to Haus Göverdinckschen lands in 1815 . In 1886 the entire farm was appraised and then sold in 1901 to Franz August Große Brinkhaus, who up until this point had been the tenant of the estate. From 1910 to 1938 stables were built in which cattle, pigs and, at times, chickens were kept. The moat around the house was filled at this time mostly.

During the Second World War , Franz August Große Brinkhaus took in several Polish soldiers who were in German custody . Since these were treated very carefully, the farm was spared when Polish soldiers looted the surrounding farms - the prisoners of war stood in the way of their own kind. In 1995 the last building was completed. The farm is still run by Ludger Große Brinkhaus today.
