Gut Königsbruch - mansion

The Königsbruch estate is an estate in Bruchhof , a district of Homburg , the district town of the Saar- Palatinate district . It is listed as an individual monument in the Saarland's list of monuments.

history

The manor was built as the "Königsbrucherhof" around 1766 on behalf of Duke Christian IV of Pfalz-Zweibrücken. After the Duke's death in 1775, the property passed to his nephew and successor Charles II August , who gave it to his wife Maria Amalie . During the French Revolution in 1793, the estate became French national property. It was only returned to Maria Amalie - now the widow of Charles II August - in 1805, who then sold it.

In the period that followed, the estate changed hands several times until it was acquired by Rudolf Tascher from Saarlouis-Beaumarais in 1936. Even today the property is known under the name "Tascher Hof".

The eventful history continued until 2014, when the couple Archibald von Wegner (1941–2016) and Margit von Wegner-Hauenstein acquired the severely dilapidated farm, named it "Gut Königsbruch" and the renovation in coordination with the State Monuments Office began. The work lasted four years until the result of the renovation was officially presented to the public on September 8, 2018.

building

The main building of the Dreiseithof is the two-storey mansion with a half-hip roof and ridge turret. Two farm buildings are connected at right angles to it: in the east the former barn with caretaker's house and in the west the former horse stable. Behind it is the new baroque garden, named Amaliengarten after the previous owner Maria Amalie. In the south the area is limited by a wall. Outside this wall, a rhododendron garden and a chapel (“Noah Chapel”) were built in the course of the renovation work. In 2017, a small Italian organ with 10 stops on a manual and pedal from around 1740 was installed.

The horseshoe-shaped complex of the manor resembles the former Louisenhof, which was built just a kilometer away at around the same time and was the nucleus of Karlsberg Palace .
