history

Gut Nienhagen (marked in red) in the Hildesheim Monastery, map excerpt from 1645

Like the neighboring Söder, Nienhagen had been a local fiefdom of the von Bortfeld family since the High Middle Ages . After the Hildesheim collegiate feud, the eastern part of the prince-bishopric fell to Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel and returned to Hildesheim with the restitution in 1643. When the von Bortfeld family died out in 1688, Prince-Bishop Jobst Edmund from the Westphalian noble family von Brabeck enfeoffed members of his family with Söder and Nienhagen. Both goods came through marriage to Andreas Otto Heinrich zu Stolberg-Stolberg , who sold them shortly before his death in 1863.
