Kristijan Mesaroš (born July 2, 1988 in Slavonski Brod ) is a Croatian tennis player .

Career

Mesaroš first played a professional tournament on the ITF Future Tour in 2006 . He won his first two titles on this tour in 2008. In 2010 he won six singles titles and one doubles title. He also took part in the qualification of the tournament in Banja Luka , a tournament of the ATP Challenger Tour for the first time , but where he was defeated by Jürgen Zopp . In early 2011 it had its premiere on the ATP World Tour , where it failed to qualify for the PBZ Zagreb Indoors against Aljaž Bedene . In the same year he also reached four quarter-finals at Challengers. The highlight of the year was the participation in the qualification for the Wimbledon Championships , a Grand Slam tournament. In the second round, however, he was defeated by Poland Łukasz Kubot . For the first time in 2011, he finished a year in the top 300 singles.

In 2012 he came to his only match on the ATP World Tour with a wildcard at the PBZ Zagreb Indoors in Zagreb . He lost in the opening round to the Dutchman Robin Haase with 2: 6, 3: 6. The rest of the year he just played futures and slipped in the world rankings . 2013 was his most successful year: Nine titles in Futures (seven in singles, two in doubles) were recorded, as well as a semifinal participation in the Challenger in Banja Luka , where he again lost to Bedene, the eventual winner of the tournament. At ATP World tournaments he did not succeed in qualifications, just as little as in 2014 at the Australian Open . Thanks to his world ranking position, he was also allowed to take part in qualifying for the French Open and Wimbledon , but never got beyond the second round. His previous best position in the individual, the 184th place, dates to April 14, 2014.

Mesaroš did not play any tournaments between August 2014 and the beginning of 2016 and was no longer in the world rankings. In 2016 he won seven futures and climbed back to the top 300. At the world tournament in Umag he was only missing one set in qualifying to make it into the main draw. André Ghem turned the game around , however. In 2017 he played his last tournament so far in qualifying at the French Open .
