Gut Petersdorf, mansion and moat in May 2012

The Petersdorf estate is located north of the Lensahn community in the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein . Petersdorf emerged in the first half of the 16th century through an inheritance from the Gneningen estate, which no longer exists today . The entire facility is under monument protection .

history

The northern bridge

The estate was owned by the von Pogwisch family from 1459 to 1642 . The noble von Buchwaldt family followed in 1671 and then the noble von Ahlefeld family , which Petersdorf owned until 1769. Under Baron Hans Detlef von Hammerstein (owner from 1804 to 1812) the current mansion was created by converting a duplex from the 17th century. Joseph Christian Lillie from Lübeck took care of the architectural design .

Lillie designed a classicist building of one and a half stories under a hipped roof . The otherwise simple building in light-colored plaster is adorned with corner rustics and a sandstone portal flanked by Ionic columns on the entrance side . The farm yard was also relocated under von Hammerstein and was accessed via two stone arch bridges. In more recent times the manor house in the western part has been fundamentally rebuilt and renovated. The old courtyard is surrounded by moats that have been expanded into ponds. The gatehouse dates from 1867 and is a brick building in neo-Gothic style. Right next to it is a half-timbered building: the wagon shed.

Petersdorf today

The current owner of the Petersdorf estate is the von Ludowig family, who took over the farm in 1908 and is now the fourth generation to run it. The cattle breeding was stopped in the late 1960s. Today the estate is a pure arable farm where rape, wheat, winter barley, biogas beets and maize are grown. The cultivated area is approximately 400 hectares . Including the forest, the entire estate is around 460 hectares.
