Guy Glover

Guy Glover (born November 5, 1910 in London , † May 17, 1988 in Hudson , Canada ) was a Canadian film producer of British origin who was also active as an actor at the beginning of his career.

Life

At the age of four, Glover moved to Canada from London with his parents. He later went back to London and directed the theater. On stage, but also on television, he also appeared as an actor. He joined Norman McLaren on the National Film Board of Canada in 1942 , where he was instrumental in developing the NFB's documentary department. From 1940 he wrote and produced over 200 short and long documentaries for the NFB. He also worked as a producer of short animation films. He was nominated three times for an Oscar in three different categories : in 1951 for The Fight: Science Against Cancer in the category Best Documentary Short Film , in 1955 for The Stratford Adventure in the category Best Documentary and in 1977 in the category Best Animated Short for The Street by Caroline Leaf . Glover retired in 1979 and died in Hudson, Canada in 1988.
