Guy Mazzoni

Guy Mazzoni (born August 29, 1929 in Tunis , † October 25, 2002 in Montreuil ) was a French chess player.

Mazzoni, who was a doctor by profession , grew up in Tunisia and won the Tunisian individual championship in 1947. In the 1960s he was one of the strongest French players. He won the French championship in 1961 and 1965 and took part with France in the 1964 and 1966 Chess Olympiads . Mazzoni represented France in two zone tournaments , he reached the 13th place in Enschede in 1963 and 14th place in The Hague in 1966 .

Its highest historical rating was 2437 in April 1963, its highest FIDE rating 2260 when this rating was introduced in 1971.
