Gwilym Owen Williams

Gwilym Owen Williams (born March 23, 1913 in Penisarwaun , † December 23, 1990 ) was an Anglican British Bishop of the Church in Wales .

Life

Williams attended Brynrefail Grammar School and studied Anglican theology at Jesus College , Oxford . He was ordained a deacon in 1937 and a priest in 1938. He worked from 1940 as a student pastor ( chaplain ) at St David's College in Lampeter ; later he ran the Anglican hostel at Bangor University and Llandovery College . From 1957 to 1982 Williams was Bishop of the Diocese of Bangor . From 1971 to 1982 he was also Archbishop of the Church in Wales. In 2018 a biography about Williams was published.
