Győző Török (born May 22, 1935 in Miskolc , † April 11, 1987 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian cyclist . Professionally he worked as an employee in the public service.

Athletic career

Győző Török began his sporting career in 1950 with his home club Miskolci Vasutas Sport Club , after which he drove for two years for Honvéd Budapest . In 1956 and 1957 he won the Tour of Hungary , in 1958 a stage of the Tour d'Egypte and in 1959 a stage of the Tour of Slovakia . Until 1967 he started for Újpest Budapest , took part in five road world championships and seven peace rides . He has been the Hungarian champion 17 times. In 1960 he started in the street race of the Olympic Games in Rome , which he could not finish. In 1963 he was a member of the team that finished eighth at the Road World Cup . On April 11, 1987, Török committed suicide in Budapest at the age of 51.
