The Reutershagen grammar school is a municipal grammar school in the Reutershagen district of Rostock . It bears the title European School and is one of the leading schools for the promotion of gifted children in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania . Around 600 students attend the school.
history
The Reutershagen grammar school was founded in 1991. The school association was launched in 1992 . The school has been called the European School since 1998 , and this year the development of a branch of support for the gifted was started.
From 2003/04 the grammar school functioned as an open all-day school ; after necessary renovation work, it has been a partially bound all-day school since the school year 2016/17.
In the 2015/16 school year, the construction project plus energy school was completed, and since then the school has been one of the most modern schools in Germany in terms of energy technology.

Promotion of the gifted
The Reutershagen grammar school is the leading school for the promotion of gifted children in the Rostock school district. Among other things, a junior course is offered at the University of Rostock , and there is cooperation with numerous other scientific and technical institutions and associations in the region.
Competitions
The grammar school is primarily mathematically and scientifically oriented and has been recognized as a MINT- friendly school . The students take part in numerous national and international competitions. Successes have already been achieved at the state and federal level, for example as the state winner in Jugend forscht and Kangaroo in Mathematics or with victories at the federal level in the federal environmental competition (2010 and 2013).
Student exchange and foreign languages
The school organizes student exchanges and reciprocal school visits with partner schools in Spain, Peru, France or the Ukraine. Trips to England are offered annually.
Students can choose English, French, Latin, Spanish and Chinese as foreign languages.
