Karl Ludwig Hassmann (born January 3, 1869 in Vienna ; † May 13, 1933 there ) was an Austrian history painter and caricaturist.

Hassmann studied from 1888 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Siegmund L'Allemand and since November 2, 1892 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Otto Seitz and Carl von Marr . He spent the period from 1904 to 1911 in the United States , where he designed decorations and costumes for the Deutsches Theater in New York . After returning to Vienna in 1911, he became a member of the Wiener Künstlerhaus and the Hagenbund . During the First World War he worked as a war painter. He dealt mainly with history painting, also created original human-like animal caricatures.
