Gymnocalycium obductum is a species of plant in the genus Gymnocalycium from the cactus family(Cactaceae).
description
Gymnocalycium obductum grows individually with cloudy reddish brown to greyish brown, flattened spherical shoots that reach heights of up to 6 centimeters with a diameter of 7 centimeters. The 13 to 15 ribs are flat, the areoles on them sunk. The three to five thin, flexible spines are brown with a darker base and lie on the surface of the shoot. They are up to 5 millimeters long.
The slightly pinkish-white flowers are up to 1 centimeter or more long. The spherical fruits are blue-gray and reach a length of up to 1.8 centimeters.
Distribution and systematics
Gymnocalycium obductum is common in the Argentine province of Córdoba .
It was first described in 1990 by Jörg Piltz .
