Gyula Hernádi (born August 23, 1926 in Rusovce , Slovakia, † July 21, 2005 in Budapest , Hungary ) was a Hungarian writer and screenwriter.

Life

Hernádi came from the petty nobility, was educated at a private school run by Benedictines and was taken prisoner by the Soviets without any significant war experience. At the end of the 1950s he began his lifelong friendship and collaboration with the film director Miklós Jancsó . Hernádi worked as a screenplay co-writer on all of Jancsó's films made in Hungary.
