Hélène de Gingins

Hélène de Gingins (born May 15, 1828 in Geneva ; † July 23, 1905 there ; born Hélène Tronchin ) was a Swiss salonnière , abolitionist and suffragette .

In 1875 the daughter of Henri Tronchin met Josephine Butler and joined her fight against state regulation of prostitution . Josephine Butler was the leading figure of the Ladies' National Organization , which campaigned against the Contagious Diseases Acts in Great Britain , which cemented the existing double sexual standards .

Gingins became a member of the Comité intercantonal de dames de la Suisse , the International Association of Friends of Young Girls and the Swiss Women's Association for the Improvement of Morality . From 1884 she was on the board of the Fédération abolitionniste internationale and from 1891 to 1905 Vice-President of the organization.
