Hotel de Vauluisant
The Hôtel de Vauluisant in Troyes , the administrative seat of the Aube department in the Grand Est region , was built in the mid-16th century. The Hôtel particulier at No. 4 rue de Vauluisant has been classified as a monument historique since 1904 .
history
The limestone city palace was built for Antoine Hennequin after the great city fire of 1524. Since 1932 it has belonged to the city of Troyes, which set up a museum there in 1948.
description
The inner courtyard is reached through a monumental portal, from which a horseshoe-shaped flight of stairs leads to the entrance of the Renaissance- style city palace .
Todays use
Today, the building houses the Musée de Vauluisant , which is divided into two sections:
- Museum of the hosiery , which was very important in Troyes in the 19th and 20th centuries,
- Historical museum of the city of Troyes and Champagne, with sacred works, sculptures and leaded glass windows .
