The Helene-Lange-Schule , a grammar school, has been directly adjacent to the Höchst City Park since 1965 . The SG 01 Hoechst sports facilities are also located in the city park . In the east and south of the park there are extensive allotment gardens that extend south towards Nidda . In the north-west of the park is the old Höchst cemetery on Kurmainzer Straße .
history
The industrial city of Höchst only had a relatively small green space in the city, which was insufficient for the recreational needs of the growing population. At the suggestion of the Höchst Mayor Viktor Palleske , the Höchst City Park was created as a public park between 1908 and 1911 on a former swamp area based on designs by the garden architect Robert Waldecker and the Mönchengladbach horticultural director Felix Hartrath . In honor Palleskes the park was called up to the 1960s Palleske Park . Between 1930 and 1932 the park was expanded to include the area of the Breuerwiesen and the pond was enlarged. Immediately after the Second World War , the park area was used to grow fruit and vegetables.
