The megalithic system at Raven (also called Raven 1) is a megalithic system of the funnel cup culture (TBK) from the Middle Neolithic (3500-3000 BC) in the community of Soderstorf in the Lüneburg district in Lower Saxony . The system has the Sprockhoff no. 679. Neolithic monuments are an expression of the culture and ideology of Neolithic societies. Their origin and function are considered to be the hallmarks of social development.

location

The barren bed with chamber is located in the forest northeast of the village of Raven, a district of Soderstorf in the Lüneburg Heath .

description

Outline sketch of the barrow with dolmen

Of the edging of the north-east-south-west about 18.0 m long and 7.0 m wide long bed , only 17 stones can be seen at the northeast end. In its original state, the long bed will have measured around 17 × 7 meters. The bearing stones and three cap stones of the chamber are in situ . A fourth blown capstone lies next to it. The approximately 5.0 m long, slightly trapezoidal chamber from 1.5 by 1.4 m has no recognizable access and can therefore not be determined more precisely.

The complex has been dug through in various ways since the 19th century, for example in 1904 by Meyer. Apart from a few deeply engraved sherds (according to Hans-Jürgen Beier between 3500 and 3000 BC) and the recognition of a stone pavement in the chamber floor, no finds or findings are known. The shards are the remains of five fringed funnel cups, three steep-walled cauldrons, three shoulder cups and two decorated bowls.
