Hünensteg or Acapulco is an island in the southern basin of the Beetzsee . It is located near the western shore of the lake in the city of Brandenburg an der Havel . The Beetzsee regatta course runs between the island and the west bank . The Hünensteg is about 120 meters long and 70 meters wide. The Hünensteg used to be a peninsula . In the course of the construction of the regatta course, the island was created by a puncture . During the last expansion of the sports facility, the island was relocated to the east in 2010 through excavation and washing up. "Acapulco", as the island is commonly called, is used as a bathing island in the summer months. Animals also live on it, for example European beavers . The giant bridge is located in the conservation area Westhavelland.
