The Huttengrund with all five districts (2017)

The so-called Huttengrund is a side valley of the Kinzig valley in the Main-Kinzig district. It includes the districts of Romsthal , Eckardroth and Wahlert of the city of Bad Soden-Salmünster . The villages of Romsthal, Eckardroth and Wahlert are almost seamlessly linked.

The Huttengrund is traversed by the salt , which comes from the Vogelsberg and flows into the Kinzig near Salmünster . It separates the district of Romsthal from the other two districts of Eckardroth and Wahlert. Romsthal is connected to these districts by two bridges. A bridge connects Wahlert with Romsthal (Salzstrasse - Wahlerter Str.), The other Eckardroth with Romsthal (Hauptstrasse-Georg-Kind-Strasse).

"Hutten'scher Grund" refers to the earlier possessions of the Lords of Hutten in the Salztal, which also included parts of the villages of Kerbersdorf and Katholisch-Willenroth . In the Middle Ages, the villages of the Huttisches Grund belonged to Soden Castle and the former Salmünster Imperial Court. At that time Eckardroth was used by stray robber gangs as a shelter and as a starting point for escaping from the Hutt patrimonial "abroad".
