Hải Phòng is a football club from Hải Phòng , Vietnam . The club currently plays in the highest league in the country, the V.League 1 . The club plays its home games in the Lạch Tray Stadium.
history
The club was founded under the name Công an Hải Phòng as a police club by Hải Phòng, and it has undergone several name changes to this day. The last one was in 2007, when the club changed its name to its current name Xi măng Hải Phong. Xi măng is a brand of the cement manufacturer Hải Phòng Zement , which is a sponsor of the association. In 2005/06 they were promoted to the first division and the club was able to celebrate third place straight away.
The club was able to announce a spectacular new addition in June 2009. The formerly most expensive player in the world, the Brazilian Denílson de Oliveira , moved from Itumbiara EC to the V-League to Xi măng Hải Phong. After only one game in which he was also able to score, he canceled his contract.
