The V.League 1 2017 was the 34th season of the highest Vietnamese football league since it was founded in 1980. The season began on January 7th and ended on November 25th, 2017. The defending champion was Hà Nội T&T .

mode

The clubs played a double round tournament , which resulted in a total of 26 games per team. The game was played according to the 3-point rule (three points per win, one point per tie). The table was determined according to the following criteria:

  1. Number of points scored
  2. Number of points scored in direct comparison
  3. Goal difference in direct comparison
  4. Number of goals in direct comparison
  5. Goal difference from all games
  6. Number of goals in all games

At the end of the season, the team with the highest points should qualify for the second qualifying round of the AFC Champions League 2018 . But since the master did not receive a license, the league second moved up. In addition, the winner of the Vietnamese Cup took part in the group stage of the AFC Cup 2018 . The club with the fewest points was relegated to the second-rate V.League 2 .

Attendees

The Hồ Chí Minh City FC returned after seven years of abstinence as champions of the V.League 2 2016 back to the V.League 1. The Long An FC prevailed with a 1-0 win after extra time in the relegation game against Viettel FC and managed to stay in the league.

The promoted team replaced the last-placed club in the 2016 season , FC Đồng Tháp . The club had to return to V.League 2 after two years in V.League 1.
