The Liga de Elite 2017 was the 34th season of the highest Macau football league since it was founded in 1984. The season began on January 13 and ended on July 2, 2017. The defending champion was Benfica de Macau .

mode

The clubs played a double round tournament , which resulted in a total of 18 games per team. The game was played according to the 3-point rule (three points per win, one point per tie). The table was determined according to the following criteria:

  1. Number of points scored
  2. Number of points scored in direct comparison
  3. Goal difference in direct comparison
  4. Number of goals in direct comparison
  5. Goal difference from all games
  6. Number of goals in all games

At the end of the season, the team with the highest points qualified for the group stage of the AFC Cup 2018 . The two clubs with the fewest points were relegated to the second-rate Second Divisão de Macau .

Attendees

MFA Development returned to the Liga de Elite in 2016 after a year of abstinence as champion of the Second Divisão de Macau . The second promoted, Cheng Fung , made it to the highest Macau league for the first time in his club's history. The two newly promoted teams replaced the two last-placed clubs in the 2016 season , Casa de Portugal and Chuac Lun . Both clubs had to return to the Second Divisão de Macau after two years in the Liga de Elite.

All games of the season took place, some in a row, on the sports field of the Macau University of Science and Technology or in the Macau Olympic Complex , both on Taipa Island.
