S. League 2016

The S. League 2017 was the 22nd season of the top Singaporean football league since it was founded in 1996. The season began on February 26 and ended on November 18, 2017. The defending champion was Albirex Niigata .

mode

The clubs played a three round tournament , which resulted in a total of 24 games per team. Due to the odd number of teams, one team paused per game day. The game was played according to the 3-point rule (three points per win, one point per tie). The table was determined according to the following criteria:

  1. Number of points scored
  2. Goal difference from all games
  3. Number of goals in all games

At the end of the season, the team with the highest number of points qualified for the first qualifying round of the AFC Champions League 2018 . The third-placed took part in the play-off round of the AFC Cup 2018 . The two foreign clubs, Albirex Niigata and Brunei DPMM, and the U-23 team, Young Lions, were not allowed to take part in the international competitions of the AFC, so that in such a case the following in each case was not yet qualified in the league table took over.

There is no descent.

Attendees

As in previous seasons, there was no second Singaporean league in the 2016 season and thus no relegation or promotion. The number of participating teams therefore remained at 9.
