The Myanmar National League 2017 was the tenth season of the highest Myanmar soccer league since it was founded in 2009. The season started on January 14th and ended on October 29th, 2017. The defending champions were Yadanarbon FC .
mode
The clubs played a double round-robin tournament , which resulted in a total of 22 games per team. The game was played according to the 3-point rule (three points per win, one point per tie). The table was determined according to the following criteria:
Number of points scored
Goal difference from all games
Number of goals in all games
At the end of the season, the team with the highest points qualified for the first qualifying round of the 2018 AFC Champions League . In addition, the winner of General Aung San Shields should take part in the play-off round of the AFC Cup 2018 . Since the champions could also win the cup, the second in the league took over the place in the AFC Cup. The two clubs with the fewest points were relegated to the second-rate MNL-2 .
Attendees
The GFA FC returned after two years of absence second in the MNL-2 2016 back to the Myanmar National League. The real champions, Manaw Myay FC , waived promotion. The second promoted team, Nay Pyi Taw FC , last played in the top Myanmar league in the 2015 season.
Due to the withdrawal of Zayar Shwe Myay FC , the penultimate of the 2016 season , Southern Myanmar FC , escaped relegation. The last-placed club, Horizon FC , had to return to the MNL-2 after only one year in the Myanmar National League.
