The Lebanese Premier League 2016/17 was the 57th season of the highest Lebanese football league since it was founded in 1933. The season began on September 9, 2016 and ended on April 23, 2017. The defending champions were Safa SC Beirut . On matchday 21, Al Ahed was able to secure the championship for the fifth time with a 3-0 win at the green table against the Nejmeh Club .

The clubs play a double round tournament , which results in a total of 22 games per team. The game is played according to the 3-point rule (three points per win, one point per tie). The table is determined according to the following criteria:

- Number of goals in all games
- Number of points scored in direct comparison
- Number of points scored in direct comparison
- Goal difference in direct comparison
At the end of the season, the team with the highest points qualifies for the first qualifying round of the 2018 AFC Champions League . The Lebanese FA Cup winner will take part in the play-off round of the 2018 AFC Cup . However, if he already qualifies through the league, the second in the league takes his place in the play-offs.
The two clubs with the fewest points are relegated to the second-rate Lebanese Second Division .

The Tadamon Sur Club and al-Akhaa al-Ahli Aley both returned to the Lebanese Premier League after a year of abstinence as champions and runner-up in the Lebanese Second Division in 2015/16.
The two promoted teams replace the two last-placed clubs in the 2015/16 season , Shabab al-Ghazieh and Hekmeh FC . Hekmeh FC had to return to the Lebanese Second Division after just one year and Shabab al-Ghazieh after two years in the Lebanese Premier League.
